Description
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Biller ensures accurate and timely billing and reimbursement for DME services. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing codes, insurance policies, and healthcare compliance standards. You will work closely with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues and maximize collections.
Responsibilities
Process claims for Durable Medical Equipment services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
Follow up on denied or delayed claims, addressing and resolving issues promptly.
Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and documentation.
Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.
Stay updated on insurance policies, billing regulations, and coding practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in DME.
Proficiency in medical coding (CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10).
Strong knowledge of insurance verification and claims processing.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Certification in Medical Billing and Coding is a plus.
